毫無疑問是good kid, m.A.A.d city的key song，在這12分鐘(分成上下)的長篇中，Kendrick緩緩地道出在Compton這個險惡之地的底層人生故事，既寫實又震撼...

 

首先第一段主歌是Kendrick跟他朋友之間的對話

這位朋友的哥哥，Dave，因幫派衝突死在槍下

而他親眼目睹了這一切，於是計畫復仇...

 

雖然他想要像Kendrick一樣，靠創作音樂來忘記傷痛，但畢竟"人在江湖，身不由己"

你殺了我哥，我就殺了你來替他報仇，結果他的朋友為了替你報仇，也想把我幹掉...於是成了無止盡的惡性循環...

但為了在這街區生存，他也別無選擇...

 

而在這段主歌結束時，我們也聽到了這位朋友的下場，一如他哥哥Dave...

 

第二段主歌則是《Section 80》中<Keisha's Song>的延續

該首歌是講述一位名叫Keisha的年輕妓女，她的人生故事

 

而這段主歌則是Kendrick遇見Keisha的妹妹，她反而不希望Kendrick把她的故事給講出來

她認為自己就是只能跟她姐姐一樣，過著這樣悲慘的生活

雖然，她也痛恨這樣的社會，但就如同自己老客戶的堂弟David(Dave)一樣

只能無奈地接受這樣的命運，在這險峻的社會之中生活、死去...

 

但Kendrick還是唱了出來，第三段主歌就是他的回應

因為他也在這個城市生活(差別在於他剛好比那一些人幸運一點點而已)

他覺得有必要把這些事情講出來讓大家知道，因為這些事情"is realer than the TV screen"...

 

Sing About Me的部分結束。

 

 

接著鏡頭切換到Kendrick本人身上(所以上述的故事應該算是他的一次"閃回")，讓Swimming Pool尾段中的對話繼續下去...I'm Dying of Thirst的部分開始。

 

這段主要是Kendrick對於康普頓街頭生活的厭倦與反思，並確立了出走街頭的想法

這並非Kendrick對康普頓感到厭惡，而是出自於他對這城市的愛

他不想再看到自己的同胞如此辛苦地過活，他想讓他們脫離這樣的困境...

 

但Kendrick卻開始對自己產生懷疑，他不確定自己是否能在有罪過的情況下去做到這些

(Kendrick曾說過他在16歲時殺過人，但這並未獲得證實)

於是，他向上帝請求寬恕他曾犯下的罪過

寄望藉由上帝的寬恕，來讓自己重新開始一個"真正"的人生

 

並將主題延續到下一首歌、也是一大長篇的<Real>。
